When using flour on beef cubes for stew can all purpose WHOLE WHEAT flour be used?

Im wanting to make stew tonight for dinner and iv always used the method of mixing flour and spices and coating the beef cubes with it and then frying in oil. But all i have is all purpose whole wheat flour, will it still work? Well i know it should work but will it affect the taste? Iv never used bullion or beef stock and i don't have it anyways so its not really an option. Suggestions appreciated, thanks.
