Why do people think the world's ending tomorrow?

I have heard nothing directly, but it appears many people on yahooanswers.com believe that the world will end tomorrow. Why is this? Surely they realise that if it were true, people like Tony Blair, the Queen and etc. would've been on the first spaceship/pod off the planet ages ago?
