Should 12 years old and under be considered adults?
A lot of people say that kids 12 and under should be charged as adults for crimes they commit. Does an 8,10, or 12 year old really understand the complexities of things the way an adult does? I'm not talking about something as serious as murder. If a 10 year old steals something from a store, is it the same as if a 30 year old does? If a 9 year old acts out ually with a younger sibling, is it molestation/ual abuse, or childhood curiousity? I can see both sides of the argument, but when I remember back to being 12 and under, I don't think I would have looked at things the same way as I do now. Maybe we know as kids that something is wrong, but we don't really know why it's wrong? If a preteen can be charged as an adult for something, then shouldn't they enjoy the privileges of being an adult too (like voting, drinking, etc). What do you think?
